Telemetry
Saving Sessions
After uploading and analyzing telemetry, you can save the parsed session to your TrackOut account. Analysis keeps saved sessions from RaceBox, AiM, VBOX, and CSV together so you can reopen them later without starting from the logger file.
How to save
- Open Analysis and choose Upload telemetry, or choose Connect RaceBox in Chrome to capture or download a recording
- Choose the matching Track Day, then optionally choose the individual on-track session that recording belongs to. You can also choose Day only or Leave unlinked
- Click Save in the cockpit header
- The lap data is stored in your account and the original file is kept alongside it
Car association
The car comes from the Track Day or individual TrackOut session you link -- there is no separate car picker. Choosing an on-track session also selects its day and car, so Analysis can file the recording consistently.
What gets saved
When you save a session, TrackOut stores the full parsed dataset:
- GPS points -- Latitude, longitude, and timestamps for track map rendering
- Channel data -- Speed, G-forces, RPM, and all other detected channels
- Lap times -- Individual lap times and lap boundary markers
- Session metadata -- Track name, session date, original filename, and supported logger details from the uploaded file
New web saves retain the full parsed analysis trace, including channel values aligned to every GPS sample. TrackOut also keeps a smaller preview for compatible clients. Reopening a session starts with a few comparison laps: choose Load lap for another trace or Load all laps for whole-session analysis.
Older saves keep their original sampling detail. Your uploaded file remains untouched alongside the session, so re-import it when you need detail an older save omitted. Very large parsed laps that exceed the analysis storage limit produce a save error rather than silently losing samples.
Uploaded telemetry files can be up to 50MB each, and an account can hold up to 500 saved sessions. Detailed analysis data is also limited to 1GiB per session and 10GiB per account, so large sessions may reach the storage limit first. Uploads in progress and replaced analysis data count until cleanup removes them. Delete saved sessions you no longer need from the saved-sessions browser to make room; storage becomes available as deletion cleanup finishes.
If a save is interrupted
Closing the tab or losing connection part-way through a save can leave a session row with no laps behind it. Re-uploading the same file replaces that empty row instead of being refused as a duplicate, so a failed save never blocks a retry. A save still in progress elsewhere is left alone.
VBOX and RaceBox sessions
VBOX uploads can be saved after parsing just like AiM sessions. If a VBOX file relies mainly on GPS samples, TrackOut preserves the usable GPS and speed data so the saved session can still be reopened for map and lap review later. A VBOX file with a GPS trace but no lap markers is saved as a single lap covering the whole recording, rather than being rejected as having no laps.
RaceBox recordings acquired in Chrome -- both live captures and device-memory downloads -- do not contain device-generated circuit gates or lap results. When the GPS route clearly matches a catalog layout with surveyed start/finish data, TrackOut calculates and saves valid laps; an ambiguous route asks you to choose the layout or keep it untimed. No match remains an untimed trace. Saved rows identify derived laps as TrackOut-calculated. You can always inspect the full sensor timeline, map, speed, and G channels. A RaceBox memory download containing several recordings asks you which recording to import.
Loading saved sessions
Saved sessions live in Analysis, available directly from the app sidebar. The Saved sessions tab starts at All time, including older and unlinked analysis. Use the car and date filters when you want to narrow the library, and choose Load more to reach another page.
A saved session opens on its summary: the laps, the picked lap's speed against a compare lap, and the time gained or lost per corner. Compare defaults to your car's best lap at that track -- from another saved session when it holds that best -- and lists the car's other sessions there alongside this session's laps. Corners are labelled from the track layout (T1, T2, ...); at a track without a corner map, the gains and losses are shown per sector instead. Choose Full analysis for every chart and the map.
In full analysis, loaded sessions behave identically to freshly parsed files. You can:
- Select and compare laps
- View all charts and the track map
- Zoom, pan, and reset the chart window
- Switch between named analysis workspaces
- Use the session analysis overlay
- Access braking zone statistics
Choosing Back from analysis returns you to Analysis, including after a new upload or RaceBox import.
File not required
Once a session is saved, you do not need the original XRK, XRZ, VBO, CSV, or RaceBox file to view it -- the analysis data is stored in your account. Keep the original file if you want an independent backup or need to re-import at full resolution. For RaceBox sessions, the browser that saved the file also keeps a private local copy for changing calculated lap timing. Re-import the original .racebox file if that browser cache has been cleared or you open the session on another device.
Session organization
Every saved row shows its logger type, recorded time, car, track and layout, timed or untimed state, and TrackOut link state. Sessions linked to Track Days are grouped by day. A recording linked directly to an available standalone TrackOut session stays linked under Standalone TrackOut sessions. Recordings without the right day or session -- including those whose previous target no longer exists -- remain visible under Unlinked sessions rather than disappearing into a synthetic day.
If you later add that standalone TrackOut session to a Track Day or move it to another day, Analysis moves its linked recording with it.
From the saved row, choose Analyze, Link or Relink, Unlink, or Delete. Linking supports three levels:
- TrackOut session -- The specific run and car, plus its Track Day when it belongs to one
- Day only -- Useful context when no individual run was logged
- Leave unlinked -- Keeps the analysis available until the right record exists
This means you can browse sessions by:
- Car -- See all sessions for a specific vehicle
- Track -- See all sessions at a specific circuit
Over time, this builds a history of your performance at each track with each car, making it easy to measure improvement.
Tip: Link the individual run
Choosing the on-track session connects telemetry to the run's conditions, tires, notes, and other TrackOut records. TrackOut never guesses the individual run: you make that final choice after it ranks likely Track Days.
Link after you save
Link, Relink, and Unlink remain available in Analysis after Save. This is useful when you download at the track and log the matching on-track session later.
Analysis workspaces
Named analysis workspaces save your cockpit layout for each car and logger profile. Create separate workspaces for different review tasks -- for example:
- Race day -- Your normal speed, delta, brake, and throttle review
- Qualifying -- Fewer laps with more detailed channel traces
- Wet setup -- Channels and map focus for grip and consistency checks
Workspace changes sync to your account when you are online. If you rename a workspace or change the default while offline, TrackOut keeps that pending change locally and syncs it after reconnecting. Deleting a workspace requires an active connection.
