Event Photos
TrackOut's event photos let you collect and share track-day pictures across events, cars, and your garage. Upload from the Photos page, a car's Photos tab, or an event's gallery. Choose Public or Only me for each photo, attach it to an event, a car, or both, and browse community galleries from other drivers.
Open Photos in the sidebar to see everything you have uploaded, photos from events you attended, or use Events to find events that already have public photos.
Uploading photos
Click Upload photos on the Photos page, use Add photos on a car's Photos tab, or upload directly from an event's detail page.
For each upload you choose:
| Setting | What it means |
|---|---|
| Public | Anyone signed in can see the photo in event galleries. Counts toward your public photo allowance. |
| Only me | Visible only to you. Must be attached to at least one car and counts against that car's private photo limit. |
| Event | Optional. Tie the photo to a MotorsportReg event or a community event so it appears in that event's gallery. |
| Car | Optional for public photos; required for Only me. Attach the photo to one or more cars in your garage. |
You can attach a public photo to an event, a car, or both. Private photos must include at least one car.
Public photos stay free
Every plan can upload public photos. Only me photos use per-car private storage: 10 on Free or 250 on Club and higher plans. See Photo limits below.
After upload, open any photo in the lightbox to download it, save it to your Saved list, or -- when viewing someone else's public photo -- add it to one of your cars.
The Photos page
Photos in the sidebar has three tabs:
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| My uploads | Every photo you have uploaded, grouped by event. Photos without an event appear under No event. |
| From my events | Public photos from events you registered for -- albums other drivers shared from your track days, ready to browse, save, or claim. |
| Saved | Public photos from other drivers that you bookmarked. |
From My uploads, click a photo to open the lightbox. Use Manage to edit the caption, switch between Public and Only me, or change which event and cars the photo is attached to. Use Delete to remove a photo you own.
From my events only lists events where you have an active registration and at least one public photo exists. Open an event name (or View all N) to jump into the full gallery.
Event galleries
Every event with photos has a detail page. Open it from:
- Events -- click an event row, or use View event photos when the event has public photos
- A photo's event name on the Photos page
The event page shows the event name, dates, venue, and a shared gallery. Photos are grouped by photographer so you can browse who shot what. Click any thumbnail to open the lightbox with download, save, and claim actions.
Registered users can upload to any event they can open -- MotorsportReg events in the shared catalog (no MotorsportReg account link required to browse) and community events created in TrackOut.
Community events
In addition to MotorsportReg events, you can create community events that any signed-in TrackOut user can post photos to. On the Events page, click Add event and fill in the name, dates, venue, and type.
Community events work like shared photo albums for informal track days, shop visits, or meetups that are not listed on MotorsportReg. The creator can edit or delete the event later from the event detail page.
When uploading, search for an existing event or choose Create a community event from the event picker if the event is not listed yet.
The event picker surfaces the events you are most likely to use first -- no MotorsportReg account link is required to attach photos to a shared catalog event:
- When you have registrations -- Your attended events appear first, followed by your next upcoming registration. Recent past events from the shared catalog fill any remaining Past slots (up to five) so you can post photos after a weekend even when your only registration is upcoming. Matching attended history ranks above the broader catalog in search.
- When you have none -- The picker falls back to recent and upcoming events from the shared MotorsportReg catalog (plus community events). Full search across event names and venues still works, and you can attach photos without an event when you only want them on a car.
- On phones -- The event list scrolls inside the dialog so search, the create action, and the upload footer stay visible while you browse results.
To invite friends, open the event and click Share to copy a durable /e/… album link (or use your phone's share sheet). Creating a community event opens this share sheet automatically. Recipients need a TrackOut account to open the album and upload.
Discovering photos from Events
On the Events page, turn on Has photos in the header to show only events with at least one public photo. The filter works alongside search, Registered, Bookmarked, and the type/organization/track filters.
Event rows with public photos can show View event photos with a count of how many public photos are in the gallery. Events with no public photos keep the standard event action instead.
Saving and claiming photos
Save (bookmark)
In any public event gallery or lightbox, click the bookmark icon to save a photo to your Saved tab on the Photos page. Bookmarks are personal -- other drivers do not see your saved list.
Claim to your car
When viewing someone else's public photo, click Add to my car in the lightbox. Pick one or more cars from your garage. Claimed photos appear on each car's Photos tab without copying the file -- you are linking the original upload to your build.
You can claim the same photo to multiple cars, or remove a claim later from the lightbox. Only public photos can be claimed. The original uploader keeps ownership and can still delete the photo.
Show claimed photos on your public profile
In Edit details for a car, open the Public page section and turn on Show event photos to display claimed photos on your shared car profile. Each photo is credited as Photo · {photographer} · {event}. This is off by default for existing shares.
Car Photos tab
Each car has a Photos tab on its dashboard. It shows:
- Photos you uploaded directly to the car
- Event photos you claimed to that car
Use Add photos to upload new images with the same public/private, event, and car placement controls as the main Photos page.
Photo limits
| Limit | Free | Club and higher |
|---|---|---|
| Public photos stored | 1,000 | 10,000 |
| Public uploads per day | 100 | 500 |
| Private photos per car | 10 | 250 |
Only me photos must be attached to at least one car. If you downgrade while over the private limit, existing private photos stay viewable, but new private uploads pause until you are back under the limit or upgrade.
TrackOut strips location metadata from photos before upload. Accepted formats are JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF up to 20 MB.
Placement required
Every photo must be attached to an event, a car, or both. You cannot upload unattached photos.
Privacy
- Only me photos are visible only to you and never appear in event galleries, discovery filters, or public profiles.
- Public photos appear in event galleries and can be saved or claimed by other signed-in users.
- Switching a photo from Public to Only me also expires previously copied image URLs, so a saved link stops opening the file.
- The uploader can delete their photo at any time; claimed links on cars are removed with it.
- Share pages only show event photos when you explicitly enable Show event photos on the car's public profile.
