Car notes

Capture reminders and garage context as notes on each car. A car's notes live in the Notes card on its Overview. The Notes page in the sidebar is a capture inbox: jot a thought down without picking a car, file it later, and search every car's filed notes. Notes about one setup version stay on that version, in the Setup view of the car's Build tab.

Where to find notes

• Car Overview — the Notes card beside Needs attention shows the car's top three notes: pinned notes first, then the newest with their date. The search icon in its header finds this car's notes by their words. Type a note on the Remember this... line (a mi box appears for the odometer it is about, if you like) and press Enter to add it; a mileage that isn't a number is flagged rather than dropped. Point at a note to show its ··· menu:

  • Pin keeps the note at the top of the card with a Pinned tag (Unpin to release it).
  • Make it a to-do adds the note to the car's To-do list under Needs attention and archives the note, since the to-do now carries it.
  • Archive takes the note off the card without losing it; the toast's Undo brings it straight back.
  • Delete removes the note; the toast's Undo keeps it for five seconds.

  N older in All notes opens the sidebar Notes page filtered to the car. Notes are for what to remember; for something to do, add a to-do instead. See Notes on the Overview.

• Setup — Open in notes beside a setup version's notes takes you to the car's Notes card on the Overview.

• Sidebar — Notes opens the capture inbox:

  • Type in Remember this… and press Enter to save a note with no car yet. It waits under Unfiled.
  • File to car… on an unfiled note picks the car; the note moves to that car's Notes. The same menu deletes it.
  • Filed · all cars lists every car's notes, most recently edited first, with a search box that finds notes across cars. Click one to open it on that car's own notes page, below (a car's All notes opens the same page).

The list is ordered by most recent edit, but every card is dated by the day the note was written — so reading one back against a session tells you what you knew at the time. A note changed since says edited beside that date; on a desktop, hover it for when.

One car's notes

The Notes page filtered to a car shows its notes as sticky-color cards, with a quick-capture box at the top.

• Active and Archived switch between the car's current notes and the ones you archived (including notes you made into a to-do). An archived note's Restore puts it back on the car.
• The filter chips narrow the board to notes pinned to a session, a logbook entry, or a part, or to notes with no link. A chip only appears when a note uses it.
• Add to To-do on a card adds the note to the car's To-do list and keeps the note where it is, marked On the To-do list.
• Each card's ··· menu edits, archives or restores, or deletes the note.

Jotting one down

The fastest way is the Notes card on a car's Overview: type the note and press Enter. For a longer note with a title, markdown, a sticky color, and @mentions, open All notes on the car's Notes card: that car's notes page has the full editor. The sidebar Notes page is for quick capture — type a thought, file it to a car later — and for finding filed notes; click a filed note to open it on its car's notes page.

@mentions

Type @ while editing to mention a part or another car. Mentions become clickable chips in the note so you can jump straight to that part or car.

Search

Use Search notes in a car's Notes card to find that car's notes by their words. The sidebar Notes page searches filed notes' titles and body text across every car; each result opens on its car's notes page, which is where you work with one car's notes.

The Crew Chief can search the title and body of active notes for a selected car. Its answers cite readable source dates and link back to the exact note, including notes older than the first board page. Archived notes remain stored but stay out of active-note results until restored.

Ask "What did I write about wet pressures?" to search, or "Save this as a setup note" to create one. Before saving, TrackOut shows a Create note confirmation with the car, title, and complete multiline content. Reading attached files and analyzing tuner logs are planned for a later phase.
